Blood of the Wolfman |
Directed by Paul McComas. 14 min. Black & white & red.
This film by a 13-year-old werewolf fan and voodoo enthusiast lay dormant for
nearly 32 years. Then, in late 2006, McComas (now 45) used teen body doubles to
shoot a few "insert" scenes. Finally, working with his filmmaker nephew Henry
McComas (Crooked Lake Productions) and Joshua Avila (DUB VOX
Studio Services), Paul merged the old scenes (80% of the film) with the new to create a
cut-rate mini-masterpiece.
Larry Talbot (McComas) solicits the aid of a brave
and beautiful young voodoo priestess Evelyn Laveau (Julia Sackin) in curing his
lycanthropy. But Talbot is haunted by his own guilt for his crimes -- and by
voodoo trickster/ghoul Baron Samedi (John Scott), who is determined to keep the
Wolfman "alive and rippin'." Can Evelyn help Talbot forgive himself and escape
his curse, or will Larry's veins forever course with. . .the Blood of the
Wolfman? This film was completed, and is presented, in loving memory of its
lead actress, Julia Sackin (1963-1984).
