Frequently Asked Questions:
What
can I do to save money?
There are a number of
things YOU can do to save time and money.
Plan ahead. - Have your
scripts or songs written ahead of time. Much money can be wasted if a
client is spending time in the studio rewriting paragraphs or trying to find
that perfect lyric.
Know your project. - Having
an idea of what your finished product should sound like gives you the
direction you need to know when you may be taking a wrong turn.
Ask Questions. - Don't be
afraid to ask questions. The more prepared you can
be and the better your finished product will sound.
Are
you open evening and weekend hours?
Absolutely! DVSS is
available round the clock and is willing to work with YOUR schedule to get YOUR
project
completed by YOUR deadline.
What is a REFERENCE DISK?
A Reference Disk is a
copy of your project on CD made after the editing and mixdown is finished.
This is your copy to listen to carefully, noting any discrepancies you would
like to clear up. After you have listened, we can then go back together to
make the changes. At this point, we are ready to create a DUPE
MASTER.
What is a DUPE Master?
A DUPE Master or Duplication Master is a the
Final copy of your project that can be sent to duplication. It is
specially formatted for either CD, CD-R, DVD, DVD-R, or Cassette
Duplication.
What is the difference between a CD and a CD-R?
A CD-R is a burned compact disc. It is
made in a CD-R drive attached to a computer or in a stand alone unit.
They are usually blue on the write side. Generally, this format is
cheaper when making fewer than 1000 copies of a project and offers a
much faster turn around time than CD format. Since each disc is
burned individually, the possibility for error is also more prevalent.
A CD is molded from a glass master disc.
This glass master is made from your original CD-R master of the project.
The CD's are then "pressed" off of that glass master, leaving each copy
an exact "Replica" of the original. In theory, the only errors
that will be on the CD copies would have to be on the original master.
This format is generally cheaper for quantities of greater than 1000
copies.
