DUB VOX Studio Services opened it's door just before January 1st, 2001 by
Joshua Avila.
From the Owner: In 2001, I completed an internship at CompCore, Intl. and took over as head audio engineer. CompCore was a full service duplication house in Morton Grove, Illinois. Here I gained invaluable experience recording, editing, mastering, duplicating, and interfacing with clients. In school, I learned how to record. In the field, I learned how to use that knowledge to become a successful engineer in a business that has proven to be challenging and fun, and allowed my creative instincts to flourish. Like many other smaller American companies, CompCore, Intl. was hit hard in the wake of the September 11th tragedy and was forced to close it's doors. I scrambled for another job, sending resumes, following up, and then following up again. But the job market was tight to say the least. It was a recession, no one was hiring. But there was one option. I bought the equipment from my ex-employer! When it came time for the auction, the owners wanted to save the best for last, leaving all the studio equipment safe and sound through the four hour excursion. This proved to be a tremendous benefit to me. By the time we got to the studio, and the auctioneers began their infinite ramblings, not only had everyone spent the majority of their money, but I had spent the last four hours letting everyone know about my situation, gaining sympathy, and making friends. In the end, no one even bid against me! Something was guiding me somewhere, turning despair into dreams, and fear into good fortune. Next---> |
